Visio by DPTPB: Rubrik Stencils

March 29, 2017 update notes for DPTPB stencil collection

Since we have now officially sold some Rubrik units it is time to put some effort into documenting Rubrik environments.

I got some Rubrik Visio stencils from Rubrik SE.  They were not perfect: no connection points in ports or adapter slots. So some tuning was required

  • Added connection points into IPMI , 1GbE & 10GbE ports
  • Added connection points for my NIC shapes
    • same NIC shapes as with Nutanix
  • Additionally I made Rubrik specific DAC cable shapes with matching placeholder shapes

Modular shapes

The original shapes seem to be based on SuperMicro X10 stencils, so no need to make my own shapes, just add connection points.

DPTPB NIC shapes

All DPTPB Rubrik Visio shapes come equipped with dual-port 10GbE adapter and with fiber placeholder shapes. If using 10GBase-T or DAC cabling, you can change the NIC or place new NIC ontop of existing NIC. Additional NIC usage instructions can be found in Nutanix stencil documentation.

Same NIC shapes as used with Nutanix shapes. Like with Nutanix it is recommended to use switch vendor supplied DAC cables with certain switches (Brocade, Cisco & HPE), due to switch vendor support requirements (for more details see: Nutanix + 10GbE Switches + DAC cables: Working Combinations. So I’ve made different NIC shapes based on cable used.
