Visio by DPTPB: Rear View Nutanix shapes

Feb 17,2017 update notes for Visio by DPTPB stencil collection, part 3

Rear view shapes are based on the original Nutanix shapes. Like with front view shapes there are additional elements and data associated with the shape.

Rear view shapes are slightly different than front view shapes. Rear view drawings are not in scale, so that there is more room to draw cabling and other elements required for documentation purposes. Elements like nodes and switches are grouped together in grouping boxes. This way you can get a high-level view of the solution without zooming in too much. To get more detailed information, you can zoom in to see details like port labels and such. For more info on rear view shape usage, please visit DPTPB generic rear view shape documentation

Since Nutanix ports are mostly in set locations within a node and are not multipurpose slots or ports, I can make the shape little bit different than my other shapes. I’ve labeled Nutanix shape IPMI, 1GbE or 10GbE ports with corresponding  placeholder shapes.

  • 10GbE NTNX DAC placeholder shape used since by default Nutanix 10GbE DAC cables are shipped with units equipped with spf+ ports
  • You can connect any 10GbE / 40GbE  fiber / DAC cable shape into this shape

This was done also because some of the original Nutanix shapes did not have connection points in ports, each placeholder shape contains a connection point. Additionally by placing a placeholder shape in these ports, there is now a visual cue on which type of cable should be connected to port in question.
